Australia Overview

One of the many trips we took to shoot diving video for DVDiveGuide was to Queensland Australia and the Great Barrier Reef.  We arrived a few days early just in case some of our gear got lost in transit.  Once we had everything rounded up we used the extra time to shoot some travelog video of the area.  The 3 samples in this category are from the trip to Queensland.  We created this first segment to give people a little background on Australia.

Queensland Waterfalls

As it turns out, the northeastern area of Australia is a tropical rain forest.  And it just so happnes that when we were there for our dive trip it was the rainy season.  Amazingly, it never seemed to rain where we were staying in Cairns, but when we headed into the hills it was everything you would expect from a rain forest.  Thinking that the rain and steep hills would make for some amazing waterfall footage we rented a car and took off up the coast.  This video is from that day trip.

Paronella Park & Babinda Boulders

Paronella Park is an amazing 13 acre estate built by Jose' Paronella in the late 1920s and early 1930s.  Cut into the rain forest along Mena Creek, it featured the first hydro-electric plant in Queensland and possibly Australia.  Jose' also included a large hall where he ran films on Saturday nights and held large dances and parties.  Jose' was a true pioneer and visionary and the estate he created was far ahead of it's time and truly unique.  No trip to the area is complete without a visit to Paronella Park.  This video is from the time we spent there.
